An Ode to Johnny & June

Drivin', ridin', rockin', rollin" ~  Watchin' the ring while startin' the fire
Makin' the circle so it  couldn't be broken ~ Waitin' for the LORD by & by..

Taken Away; Taken Away;
Taken away by an angel today!

Walkin' the Line, Ridin' the train,
Wearin' black with a cowboy hat and Finding the Folsom Prison Blues
Big Boy Sue never wore blue shoes 'Twas white cotton that made him bleed.

Taken away; Taken away;
Taken away by an angel today!

Wearin' red, white and blue taught him nothing new...He'd already killed his first man.
And the black & white stripes, was really just hype...
He was able to pay for his shame!
The pills were a problem ~ The booze was a pain.
But, the crowd was his medicine as they cheered for what he sang...
Till his Savior light, June finally came!

Taken away; taken away'
Taken away by an angel today!

And on a throne I saw him sitting ~ old and tattered by the storm.
With a feast made fit by greed... showing how he saw himself
And how he led this life he'd leave~
And my hero with his shadows, and his light standing on the stairs
Made me sob true sorrow, for all their loss and saddened cares!

He said his Kingdom was only ashes, And his treasures only pain,
And how if he lived it all again, He wouldn't be so selfish He'd live toward a higher gain!
But I know He served well THE KING cause look how grand he could sing!!!

Taken away, Taken Away,
Taken Away by his Wife Today!
